I got some exciting news today. I am being nominated for the Transforming Lives Award from CAMH! It is given to someone who has contributed to the understanding of mental illness, helped to reduce the stigma and supported others. I am so excited and pleased! It's been a while - still selling many books

Hi all,
It's been a while since my last post. The books are still selling and I've had to order more from the publisher. I've taken a break. Had a vacation and then had my computer in for updating.

I've had many people tell me that they,their friends, family etc. have read my book and it has helped them tremendously. What a wonderful feeling to hear that! This was the purpose of the book and it is helping people. Because of the wonderful feedback that I'm getting, I am assured that those who've read it and not said anything to me are just reacting to their own feelings about the subject. People, please remember, it is a fiction although I admit that I researched the topic extensively. And some characters bear a small resemblance to people I have known. he he I threaten my friends that I'm writing about them next!

Saturday I am speaking at a depression group in Toronto

Hi there,
It's been a busy time. I'm signing lots of books. On Sat. I will meet with a depression support group that meets casually once a month. I am taking my book and sharing with them how it came to be written and how it is very healing to write.
My friend, Peny is coming with me and we will just have a nice, relaxing day of it.

We finally got the bugs out and Chapters now has my book available either at the bookstores (to be ordered) and on the website. Now I can set up some book signings at Chapters.

I came across two web sites that were selling "Cracked Teacups by B.E. Moore" One was from the UK and had the price listed in pounds. The other was from India and the price was quoted in rupies. Far out!

Cracked Teacups available in more stores

I've heard that my book, Cracked Teacups is available on Amazon.ca. Ordering it through the Canadian version of Amazon enables you to participate in the free shipping.
Barbara checked with Chapters and eventually contacted their head office. They said that they have no problem carrying the book but the publisher needs to initiate it. I have sent this information to the publisher and hopefully it will be available at Chapters soon. Thanks Barbara!
I recieved 75 copies today to use at book signings, and other media events.

A Little Break from Book Marketing

I took a little break from the book marketing scene. Went away for a few days. I had lots of E-mails when I got back. Back to blogging about "depression recovery" "Canadian Mental Health" "books about depression" etc. More and more people are reading "Cracked Teacups." Most store can get it in now.

Cracked Teacups - Read & Recommended

I met with my church small group last night. They had a cake that said "congratulations Brenda" Such kind and wonderful people! A well respected woman who works in the mental health field had ordered, recieved and read my book. Her friend read it also. She said it was good and wants to recommend it to a few people. What an unbelievably good feeling that was! I am really flattered! I was so excited, I was shaking as I cut the cake.
I'm off now for a few days of R&R.

Store in Ottawa selling Cracked Teacups

I heard from a friend in Ottawa that she found a store that could order the book. Independent stores have no trouble ordering it in. It's just Chapters (that has a big monopoly on book stores) that is slow to add it to their list. If anyone is able to order it through Chapters, please let me know.
I've got a few book clubs interested in hearing about my book, Cracked Teacups. I just have to watch out to not over-extend myself.
My son, Scott, gave me a cool, new, pink mouse for my laptop. I am using the laptop to start on my next book. I'm juggling marketing for Cracked Teacups with writing my second book, Caviar Crescent. Cracked Teacups is winning out.

Optimizing Search Engine Results - "mental health", depression, suicide, recovery, book, SSRI, psychiatrist, "support groups", psychology, psychiatry

I'm trying to learn how to optimize this blog so that search engines pick it up. Keywords are important. eg: depression, recovery, story, book,suicide. This is why you will see lots of unnecesary words in the title and text. There is some way of hiding things in the text but I haven't learned that skill yet.

There are lots of little hiccups along the way with this publishing.
1-Some retail stores are taking their time adding the book to their lists.
2-While it is available on-line, the shipping costs are high to ship to Canada.
However, God will make sure that it gets out to all who need it.

Marketing news about site called "meetup"

I've just been told about a site called "meetup" which lists groups meeting all over the world. You can search by town or by subject. The idea is to connect with groups who are interested in the theme of your book. I found a couple of good ones in Toronto. Closer groups are harder to find.
Sometimes these groups want you to come to a meeting to speak about your book etc.
I'm also looking into search engine optimization. Anyone who knows how to do this, please contact me. I'd like to learn.

Press Release - Cracked Teacups, one woman's journey through depression

Today the press manager told me that they sent a press release to local media. I imagine that means the local papers. Since I don't get them, I may not know if and when they publish it. But, they send it elsewhere too. They said it goes to 40,000 media outlets. I guess it is up to each one as to whether they publish/announce it.

I've had lots of information from the marketing department.  It's kind of overwhelming.  I'm trying to find contacts for the local paper, bookstores, libraries etc. to send to them.  I think I did this before but who knows where it landed.  Let me know if anyone was able to order the book through book stores.
I'm experimenting search engine optimization so if anything looks weird, that's why.

Wed. Aug 2 - SEO - adding keywords such as, "depression" "mental health" "recovery" "book about depression"

I've been going through the Google alerts each day.  When they search for B.E.Moore, they send me alerts for any Moore.  Not helpful.  I have alerts for depression and mental health as there may be blogs to comment on or forums to advertise my book, Cracked Teacups.  I'm finding more chat rooms by myself and if appropriate, I mention Cracked Teacups by B.E. Moore.  This is marketing, tedious and never-ending.  Do tell your friends and family about the book or about this blog.  Person to person marketing can be very effective if my friends take the time to pass on a little information.  I hope some of you have ordered the book from your bookstore.

Today I recieved e-mails from the marketing department.  There are so many ways to marked your book.  I have a marketing coach who will suggest ideas like this blog.  Today I'm working on the first suggestion, Google alerts.

Today I found my book, Cracked Teacups on Amazon.com.  So I guess it is officially published!

News from the Marketing Team

Whew, lots of info from the marketing team today.  So much info.  I don't know how I'll keep it all straight.  One major thing was a press release for me to approve.  Marketing says that even though released to sites such as Amazon.com, they can take as long as they like to put it on their site.  So don't give up if you can't find it online.  They also confirmed that you can get your bookstore to order it using the ISBN # (978-1-60860-645-0)
I might put in my first order for multiple books to use at book signings, etc.

Hi all.
Today the publishers set up a royalty account for me.  It's a totally weird experience to think of getting royalties.  I guess I'll believe it when I see it.
At least I can tell that they are working on the post production part.  I couldn't find Cracked Teacups on Amazon.com so I guess they haven't added it yet.
